Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) assist and monitor medical patients under the supervision of the registered nurses (RNs).

Education
The LPN needs to finish 1-2 years of training in a recognized certified diploma program and enter practice after he or she has secured a license.

Job Functions

  • Performs as a team member in all clinical settings
  • Participates and contributes to the process of creating care plans
  • Reviews and interprets the plan of care to fit the needs of clients
  • Administers therapeutic massage, monitors vital signs, keeps patient medical records, etc.

Medical Settings
The LPN’s function is an evidence-based and patient-centered medical practice providing nursing care in different structured settings, such as nursing homes, doctor’s offices, or in-home care.

As of 2015, the Median Salary for LPN according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is $43,170.
